About Amanda

2016 was an amazing year for Amanda as she has transformed back into a track and field athlete! In 2016 she was ranked #1 in Canada in her age group of the Master’s women’s 50m, 60m, 100m and 200m! After recovering from a foot injury in 2017, she’s excited to get back in the blocks and start competing again!

She now holds the Master Saskatchewan provincial records for:
50m – 7:2360m – 8:35; 100m – 13.01; 200m – 27.34

Who am I? I am a mother, wife, University of Saskatchewan College of Medicine curriculum specialist, master track and field athlete, six-time Ironman Triathlon finisher, former Saskatoon Valkyrie defensive back and receiver, and in the spring of 2017 while waiting for my foot to heal, I thought I’d try something completely new and competed in two SABBA Figure Competitions.  My training and fitness certifications include : Precision Nutrition Level 1 nutrition coach, CanFitPro Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor, and wellness coach; and NCCP triathlon coach. In addition, I have a B.A., B.Ed, MEd, and spent four years working on a PhD. Lots of school!

Starting with a successful career as a sprinter, I’ve been an athlete for over 30 years, coach and group fitness instructor for 10 years, and sport and wellness are pivotal in my life to say the least! I’ve set numerous provincial track and field records, have my eye on some Canadian records, and was awarded Saskatchewan Athletics Female Master athlete of the year in 2016. Most recently, while recovering from a foot injury and unable to run, I competed in the SABBA Master’s Figure Competition and won my very first figure competition in April, 2017! I live and breath health and wellness daily, am a healthy eating junky, and continually push my own boundaries by trying new things. If I’m not in the gym or at the track, you can most likely find me happily paging through cookbooks looking for interesting ideas or in my kitchen testing new ones!

Even though I’ve been around sport my entire life, I know how hard it can be to walk into a gym and feel over whelmed by the equipment and not know where to start or what to do! Gyms can be confusing and intimidating and so can the fit bodies around you – I get that! I also know what it’s like to be side lined by an injury as I’ve broken bones, torn ligaments and hamstrings, had shoulder and knee surgery, a herniated disk in my back, and almost lost my left leg from the knee down when it was crushed in a grain auger when I was two years old. I’ve had arthritis in my foot since I was a teenager; however, it was a miracle that the doctors saved my leg – so I’ll take the arthritis!

Likewise, I’m not a spring chicken any more and like many of you I’m discovering that what worked in my 20s and 30s in terms of nutrition and exercise don’t have the same results! I’ve discovered that you don’t have to work harder – you have to work smarter! My customized fitness and nutrition plans focus on balanced eating that optimize both your metabolism and hormones.

If you’re thinking getting some nutrition and fitness support or joining a welcoming and supportive fitness community, you’ve come to the right place! My number one priority is community and creating a safe and supportive environment. I believe that when you are supported and encouraged you dig deeper, exceed your own boundaries, and are empowered in every aspect of your life! Plus whether you’re in class or being coaching online, with PosFt you are never on your own! You are supported daily online and in class with a dynamic group of women ranging from doctors, teachers, or stay at home moms who come together, support each other, and challenge you to be better!
